Smorgasbook Calgary 2015

The Young Alberta Book Society is presenting Smorgasbook 2015 on May 12th at 6:30PM to 9:00 at the Cardel Homes & Theatre 180 Quarry Park Boulevard Southeast Calgary. Here is their tempting description of the event:

In collaboration with the Young Alberta Book Society, The Calgary Children's Literature Roundtable, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy and the Calgary Girls' School we would like to invite you to a buffet of youth literature; Smorgasbook 2015.

Join us for an evening featuring some of Alberta's best youth and children's authors showcasing their upcoming work. Our current lineup for this event features ; Karen Bass, Bill Bunn, Deborah Miller, Shirlee Smith Matheson, Cora Taylor, Lois Donovan, David Poulsen, Trina St. Jean and Jacqueline Hudon-Verrelli. Authors will be discussing their work, selling books and will also have time to chat to attendees.

Entry is FREE, all you need to do is bring an item to donate to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank. We have 140 spots available, RSVP today to reserve your seat!

Call for Speakers - AALT 2015 Conference

Planning is underway for the next AALT Conference, to be held in Canmore, Alberta from May 28 -31, 2015. This is your opportunity to contribute to the success of AALT 2015 by presenting at the conference.

The theme for this year is Libraries in Transition. Your Conference Committee is looking for presentations that address this theme, the daily work of library technicians or health and wellness

Are you working on an interesting project? Tried something new at your library? Or, do you have great tips for improving one's work or personal life? We all have skills, knowledge and stories to share. AALT 2015 wants to hear all about the great work you do.

2014 AALT Employment Survey

Dear Colleagues, I would like to invite you to participate in the 2014 AALT Employment Survey.

This short, anonymous survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and the results will be posted in the Members Only area of aalt.org. This data, along with that of previous surveys, assists Alberta's library technicians with benchmarking, salary reviews and contract negotiations.
